F-value? I hate number!

Relax...it's just a simple Math. You don't need a calculator for the f value.
Aperture is referred as the diameter of your lens opening. F value is a number, given in fraction form - to determine the opening of your lens aperture. What the hell it means? It means, low f value gives you a big aperture and vice versa.

eg: f/1.8 = big aperture opening
     f/32 = small aperture opening

How to remember it? It's easy. Just recall back you basic fraction concept. 1/2 is higher than 1/32. So does the f-value and aperture opening. See pictures below for more details (pictures from www.gabrielponzanelli.com)
Low f-value gives big aperture opening.
High f-value gives small aperture opening

The series of f-value and aperture opening can be describe below. (picture from www.geekinspired.com)

On my next post, I'll let you know what is the important of these f values.
